Big Brown Wins The Preakness

Monday 19th May 2008

While Big Brown may not have received the acclaim deserving of his Kentucky Derby win, following the terrible injuries to Eight Belle, the horse certainly lived up to the star billing at the weekends Preakness Stakes. The horse was a clear favourite from a very early stage but the manner and style of the victory has seen many experts looking to Big Brown to save the day and the troubled industry.

Big Brown is a horse that has promised so much in the recent past but taken a little longer than expected to come good. However the horse’s trainer has always been adamant that his star turn would come good when the occasion mattered.

Big Brown is now going for the Tripe Crown but will need to take out the impressive Japanese import Casino Drive to take the plaudits. As these two horses go head to head in the Belmont it is certain to be a night to remember for the horse racing world and one which could put a positive spotlight back on the industry. So who will do it?

Even though there are many who still have doubts about the class of field Big Brown has taken on in his last two races, what more can the horse do? He has taken those fields apart with a shot of acceleration few have seen in modern times. Big Brown for the Tripe Crown?
