Poker stars fail to win at WSOG
Monday 19th May 2008
Despite the betting side of things being to their advantage, poker players failed to come out on top at the World Series of Golf tournament last week.
Daniel Negreanu, Rhett Butler, Chris Ferguson and Phil Ivey all had a go at trying to take the $250,000 first prize, but in the end it was an automobile salesman by the name of Andrew Johnson who walked away a quarter million richer.
Two-time World Poker Tour titlist Erick Lindgren did the best out of the poker stars, finishing second and earning $60,000.
Following him was Allen Cunningham, the five-time World Series of Poker bracelet holder, who managed to get inside the top four.
It was suggested by Daniel Negreanu in his Full Contact Poker blog earlier in the week that Cunningham was playing good golf, but was letting himself down with his wagers.
Gus Hansen was another top poker professional who was meant to be taking part, but he told his blog readers that commitments in Monte Carlo meant that he could not make it.
