Negreanu 'expects to have a good WSOP'

Monday 19th May 2008

Daniel Negreanu believes he could do well at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) when it gets underway at the end of this month.

In his Full Contact Poker blog, he picked himself as being among the ten players who will perform consistently well throughout the competition.

Negreanu has won three bracelets in the past and also finished 11th in the 2001 main event, although he will be under a lot of pressure to better the other nine of his choices.

Among them are David Chiu, Ted Forrest, Scotty Nguyen and Phil Ivey, who have all won more bracelets than Negreanu.

He also chose John Juanda, Mike Matusow, Barry Greenstein and John Hennigan, all of whom own two or more WSOP titles.

Negreanu hopes these choices will give him victory in the Full Contact Poker pool competition, where chosen players receive points for finishing in the top 16 of championship events.

Interestingly, the Canadian did not choose anybody who has earned more than five WSOP bracelets, leaving out the likes of Phil Hellmuth, Doyle Brunson and Erik Seidel.
