Credit Crunch Kills Poor Quality Casino Expansion Plans

Wednesday 21st May 2008

There can be very few good things to come out of the ongoing credit crunch but experts in the financial markets believe that the current situation may well kill a number of ill conceived casino expansion plans. We are hearing news on a daily basis with regards to the delay and cancellation of many casino expansion plans, but some of these plans should never have been considered in the eyes of many experts.

The credit crunch looks like it may well finish off a few of the weaker casinos in the short to medium term and leave a much fitter, much leaner casino industry for the future. While this is not the ideal way to trim the fat from the industry it is probably a little overdue after the substantial rise in the industry over the last few years.

Even though the worldwide property sector has received the headlines, the economic boom of recent years has moved the casino sector on to a different level. We have seen the emergence of Macau, ventures in many new countries in the Far East and a reduction in the dominance of the US based industry. However, it seems that the industry may well be in for some changes over the next couple of years, ready to start another expansion phase.
