Bickering Imminent on 'Poker After Dark'

…as they reveal they will be hosting a “Love at First Raise” night. This could get messy.

Tuesday 13th May 2008

I don’t know if the producers of Poker After Dark own a stick with which to stir this stuff up with, but they’ve excelled themselves again with the announcement of a Couples Night on the show. Three well-known poker couples will battle it against each other in the usual winner-takes-all format.

The couples putting themselves up to the challenge of taking the chips off foes and loved ones alike are:

Jennifer Harman and Marco Traniello

David Benyamine and Erica Schoenberg

Phil Laak and Jennifer Tilly

All of the players have appeared on Poker After Dark before, with Harman being the highest profile of all the players in the field. Another little piece of trivia about this particular line up is that all three of the WSOP bracelets owned amongst the couples were won by the ladies – Harman with two, Tilly with one. Laak came close but was unable to stop Chan from winning his tenth, while Traniello has cashed 15 times at the World Series. Benyamine is of course one of the highest level cash game players in the world, both online and off.

The $120,000 first place prize should pay for the counselling at least.
