Isaac Baron Wins FTOPS VIII #1

'the guru 11' beats 4,157 others to take the opening event of the Series

Thursday 8th May 2008

Isaac Baron has beaten over 4,150 other runners to win the opening event at the Full Tilt Online Poker Series. The $200 + $16 event was a Six-Max No Limit Hold’em event carried a $750,000 guaranteed prize pool – easily surpassed by the 4,158 runners who generated a total prize pool of $831,000, with Baron taking $158,800 for the first place finish.

The twenty year-old is one of the leading online players in the world, perhaps better known by his PokerStars alias of ‘westmenloAA’. As well as winning FTOPS Event #1, he has also won a Sunday Million on PokerStars for $254,000, a $750k Guaranteed on Full Tilt for over $130,000, a $215 rebuy on Stars and a Sunday Mulligan on Full Tilt, the last two netting $57,000 and $47,700 respectively.

Baron is also making quite an impression on the live scene, with his recent fourth place finish at the EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo netting him $932,000. In doing so, Baron joins a select bunch of players who have won a million both online and live.

The highest finishing Full Tilt pro in the first event at FTOPS VIII was Scott Fischman, who finished in 18th.
