Poker breaks into Lycos 35
Tuesday 20th May 2008
Poker has entered Lycos's top 35 search terms list for the first time in several months.
After spending two weeks in 40th, the card game has risen to 34th where it lies behind Jessica Simpson.
Poker's four-week stint inside the top 50 most commonly used search terms table may mean the sport has now fully recovered from the period earlier this year, when it dropped from the list with alarming regularity.
YouTube is the new number one, trailed by celebrities Jessica Alba, Mariah Carey and Clay Aiken.
Paris Hilton and Pamela Anderson, who have had links with poker in the past through former mutual lover Rick Salomon, round out the top six.
It is highly possible that the World Series of Poker may lift the sport even higher when it begins at the end of this month.
Major competitions are known to boost key term usage, with the NBA benefiting from the playoff finals, for example.
