NetPlay TV To Buy Channel 848

New Live Blackjack programming could be launched as soon as this month following deal with Hollywood TV.

Wednesday 7th May 2008

NetPlay TV has announced that it has agreed to purchase Channel 848 from Hollywood TV Limited in order to launch a new live blackjack service by the end of the month.

The purchase comes following Sky Broadcasting’s decision not to introduce any new channels at this time and is believed to be costing NetPlay TV in the region of $930,000. Subject to Sky's approval, NetPlay TV stated that it would fund the deal by issuing 2,375,000 new ordinary shares at 39 cents each from as soon as Monday.

'This is another key milestone in the evolution of our business,” said Martin Higginson, Chairman and Chief Executive for NetPlay TV.

“Blackjack is the most popular game in traditional casinos and as such it was a natural progression for us to launch a ‘live’ television version of this popular game.”

The new channel, which sits alongside the firm’s current Sky Channel 847, will feature live blackjack programming, a first for UK gamers.

'Having a dedicated channel next door to our successful live roulette channel on Sky 847 makes perfect sense, allowing our customers to easily flick between channels depending on which game they want to play,” said Higginson.

'Adding new Sky channels has over recent months, following Sky's decision not to allow any new channels to be launched, become extremely difficult. The acquisition of Sky Channel 848 strengthens our position as the leader in ‘live’ interactive television gaming even further.'
