All Change At PartyGaming

Gibraltar-based firm appoints new Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director amid shake-up.

Wednesday 21st May 2008

Online gambling operator PartyGaming has announced the appointment of Canadian Jim Ryan as its new Chief Executive Officer along with the promotion of John O'Malia to the post of Managing Director, a new executive position on its board.

Ryan succeeds Mitch Garber who announced last week that he would not be renewing his contract when it expired on May 1 of next year. Garber has served as PartyGaming’s Chief Executive Officer since April of 2006 but is stepping down in order to return to North America with his family.

Gibraltar-based PartyGaming stated that Ryan is a highly experienced Internet and technology executive with 22 years of relevant experience including as Chief Executive Officer for St Minver Limited, a white-label online gaming solutions provider, and Excapsa Software Incorporated, a listed developer of interactive gaming software. Ryan also served as Chief Financial Officer at CryptoLogic Incorporated and trained as a Chartered Accountant with Deloitte Haskins and Sells.

PartyGaming also announced that O'Malia, the firm’s former Chief Games Officer, would take full executive responsibility for the day-to-day management of the company as part of his new role in addition to a seat on its board of directors. O'Malia joined the company in 2006 following the acquisition of Gamebookers, the pan-European online sports betting business where he served as Chief Executive Officer.

Amid further restructuring at the top, PartyGaming announced that its Non-Executive Chairman, Michael Jackson, would be stepping down within the next four months following Ryan’s induction and the selection of a successor.

'The board is delighted to have appointed Jim Ryan after a rigorous search and selection process that considered a broad range of candidates,” said Jackson.

“Jim has a wealth of experience that will be invaluable in steering the group through its important next phase of development.”
