As Poker players from around the world wait for the WSOP action to begin, many believe that this year’s tournament will be one of the toughest ever seen. The beauty of tournaments such as WSOP is the fact that they throw together players from every background which you could ever think of, and they all start on a level playing field.
For some reason this years event has probably received the most press coverage of all which have gone before, although this may have something to do with the fact the date for the final has been pushed back to later in the year. However, interest is high, expectations are high and the profile of the winner will literally shoot through the roof overnight.
While it is the ‘main event’ which receives the majority of the press coverage it is sometimes easy to forget that there are many ‘smaller events’ going on within the 2008 WSOP. The big bucks will be won and lost at the main table but there are still substantial winnings to be banked via the more low profile events.
Who will hold their nerve? Who will lose their bottle? Who will bag the ‘big one’? We will be one step closer to knowing that in a few weeks time. Let battle commence...........
