China's earthquake relief to receive $285,000 from PokerStars

Online gaming site PokerStars' drive to raise money to aid the relief effort for victims of the Chinese earthquake ended at midnight on June 1st, raising a total of $285,000 (£143,000).
The company set up a charity tournament in Macau's first dedicated poker room, PokerStars Macau.
All proceeds went to the Red Cross Macau to help aid them in providing relief to those affected by the disaster, which is now thought to have a death toll approaching 70,000.
In addition the site set up donation portals where members could pledge $1- to $100 dollars through their online accounts.
PokerStars also promised to match all donations made by players dollar for dollar.
The Asia Pacific Poker Tour was in Macau at the Grand Waldo Hotel and Casino last week and saw 352 players enter the tournament, with 27-year-old Londoner Dinh Le picking up the $222,460 first prize.
