Asian casino gambling revenue could overtake US in four years

A survey by the American Gaming Association (AGA) has found that many industry experts expect Asian casino gambling to overtake the US by 2012.
Of 23 experts and analysts surveyed, more that eight in ten believed that Asia was set to dominate the US in coming years.
In 2007 US casinos took over $34.1 billion (£17.4 billion) compared with the estimated Asian intake of $15 to $20 billion, yet Macau took more revenue than the US gambling hub, the Las Vegas Strip.
Frank Fahrenkopf, president and CEO of the AGA, stated: "There is no doubt this is an exciting time in Asia for the gaming industry."
Since the liberalisation of the gaming industry in Macau, the average growth rate of the economy has been approximately 13.1 per cent annually, according to the Monetary Authority of Macau.
