While we are only in the early stages of the 2008 WSOP event, relatively unknown Kansas Poker player Grant Hinkle sits proudly at the top of the leader table after hitting the jackpot and banking an $831,462 pot in a regional World Series of Poker event. Hinkle has announced plans to use $10,000 from his winnings to bag a seat at the World Series main event and the chance to grab himself an even larger winners pot!
The fact that Hinkle describes himself as a marketing man and is not an acclaimed professional Poker is even more surprising, but a closer look at his credentials reveals a little more. Grant Hinkle’s brother Blair is also a useful Poker player having secured an 11th place finish in the Los Angeles Poker Classic and taken away a $62,000 cheque for his efforts. He was also a contender at the 2007 WSOP event in which he finished 520th – no mean feat when you consider the thousands of players signed up for the event.
While Grant Hinkle may not feature heavily when the 2008 WSOP event is finally over, he certainly seems to be a name to remember for the future.
