While the modern more aggressive style of ladies Poker may be taking all of the headlines in the female sector of the sport, there can be few woman players who have made anywhere near the same impression in Poker than that of Barbara Enright. She is a formidable lady and looking to have another crack at Poker’s golden event, the 2008 WSOP tournament.
For those who have never come across Barbara Enright, she is the star who put woman’s Poker on the map and was the first lady to make it to the final table of the main event, in 1995. Many woman Poker players of today are known to use Barbara Enright as their role model, a lady who never gave in and battled to overcome the ignorance of many men in what was then a male dominated sport.
Even though Barbara Enright’s life time earnings to date of $1.2 million are not massive in the context of the game today, she has created something of a niche for herself in the world of woman’s Poker and has a number of ‘off table’ ventures. While some question whether the lady herself has the same hunger to hit the final table of WSOP, these are people who have obviously never shared her company.
