Asia Pacific Poker Tour Set A Date

The second coming of the newly-founded tour is announced for September

Friday 6th June 2008

The success of last year’s inaugural Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) has prompted the organisers to schedule another run of the tournament series for later this year.

Last year’s tour saw Asia recognised as a continent that has birthed hundreds of highly-skilled poker enthusiasts, meaning that a tournament held for the Phil Hellmuths and Gus Hansens of the East will surely be a regular occurrence.

The tour will fittingly begin in the same place that the first one did, in China’s Macau. From there the games will be held in Seoul, capital of neighbouring nation South Korea. Approximately 200 players will compete in the 2-day event from September 26-28.

The tour will then move south to Auckland, New Zealand, for the second week of October. The last stop of the initial tour will be in the capital of the Philippines’, Manila. There are still no specific dates on the latter stop, although it is expected that over 400 players will take part. The finals of the tour will be held in Australia, with the biggest buy-in of $6,000 and a first place prize of almost $1,000,000.

The tour is seen as a testimony to the amazing growth in popularity of poker over the last few years, and how talented players are to be found all over the world.
