Poker Playing Mother Fined After Leaving Kids In The Car
Saturday 7th June 2008
While there are millions of people around the world who like a game of Poker, the case of a Grandville mother of three has surprised even the hardest of Poker players in the US. Diem Thi Tan has been fined $450 after allegedly leaving her children in her car in a parking lot while she competed in a charity Poker event. In addition to the $450 fine the mother of three has been ‘advised’ to take parenting classes as one of the conditions of the court ruling.
It seems that police patrolling a car lot at 1am in the morning spotted three children – aged 5, 10 and 15 – asleep on the back seat of Diem Thi Tan’s car. They allege that the children had been in the car themselves for around three hours while their mother was playing the tables. The length of time the children spent alone in the car could not be proved but it was accepted that they had been left unattended for a considerable amount of time.
Thankfully these situations are very rare in the Poking world and at least Diem Thi Tan can receive the treatment which she requires to control her addiction.
