The World Series of Poker (WSOP) $1,500 no-limit hold'em shootout event was won by Jason Young, who recently gave up his job working on community projects and after school activities to pursue a career in poker.
His victory in the epic 29-hour tournament netted him $329,872 (£165,000) and a prestigious gold bracelet.
Young beat Russian-born Mike Schwartz in heads-up play after taking an early chip lead, which saw him holding 98.6 per cent of the chips.
After reducing the deficit considerably, Schwartz was finally defeated after going all-in with 4-4 against Young's A-J, only to see his opponent hit an ace on the turn.
Young stated: "I just made ten years of my former salary in just two days I want to work, but I wanted to (enjoy other things). So, I found poker."
Meanwhile, newcomer Andrew Brown also picked up a WSOP bracelet in the $2,000 omaha eight-or-better event after defeating five-time WSOP bracelet winner Ted Forrest in the heads-up.
