In a move which sounds very brave on the surface, but looks like great business sense on reflection, Titan Poker has announced plans for a $2.5 million guaranteed prize tournament to start on 7th September. Players can buy into the tournament at a later date for $1,500 or they can join the prequalification rounds for under$3 a seat.
The figure of $2.5 million has given the company a great deal of exposure over the last few days and is sure to see Titan Poker hitting the headlines in the run-up to the final stages of the tournament. Like so many other major players in the Poker industry, Titan is very keen to keep the popularity of Poker on the increase as the industry continues to benefit from the WSOP bug.
Interestingly, this is not the first time that Titan Poker has increased the ante in the Poker industry, having recently increased the prize pool from $8 million to $16 million a month. There are very fewer major players in the Poker industry that can compete with such pressure as the company indicated that the $2.5 prize pool was just the next stage in a push to get to the top of the tree.
