Just two weeks after bringing in the board members whom she believed could assist her with the forward development of the World Poker Association (WPA), Wendeen Eolis has abruptly tendered her resignation and is off to help in the forthcoming US presidential campaign. While she has been in office a year and been very active within the association, her new board members have only just sat down at the board table.
As seems to be the norm nowadays, the eight newly elected directors of the WPA have also tendered their resignations leaving the association to fall back on Jesse Jones the WPA founder and former chairman of the board. The procedure for replacing the departed directors will begin in earnest with a number of old favourites expected to return to the front line.
In here short tenure as WPA chairman Wendeen Eolis has been very active in re-writing the WPA internal code of ethics, bringing the association more into the modern day world of Poker, and overseen a major revamp of the WPA website.
While there is no escaping the fact that this is a major setback for the WPA, Jesse Jones has the experience and industry contacts to pick up the baton and develop the association. There are hopes to make the WPA the Poker equivalent of the PGA, but this still seems some way off.
