Odds on favourite for the 1 mile St James’s Place Stakes, Henrythenavigator has trounced the field at Royal Ascot to bag a very impressive treble for the year. The St James’s Place Stakes can now be added to victories in the English and Irish 2000 Guineas, something which left trainer Aidan O’Brien purring that he doubts there will ever be a better miler to compete at Royal Ascot. While O’Brien has a number of runners at this years event , he seems particularly pleased with the form of Henrythenavigator.
The thoroughbred was foaled in 2005, being American bred and Irish trained, and has quickly created something of a following wherever the horse goes. Named after the Portuguese Prince, Henry the Navigator, it will be interesting to see where the horse next appears.
Elsewhere at Royal Ascot the fashion police were out in full force as ladies day came to the party. The crowds were like a who’s who of the showbiz world with massive competition to grab the headlines in tomorrow’s popular press. While there were glamorous hats and dresses in abundance, there were also a variety of weird and wonderful creations, many of which left little to the imagination!
