He may be one of the better know professional poker players but when it comes to tournament play even David Benyamine himself has no idea how he is going to perform! Thankfully for David, Event 37 at the 2008 WSOP was his day as he dominated the $10,000 buy-in Omaha High Low Split tournament. While the field was not as large as some tournaments, at 235, these were the cream of the poker industry and included all of the major players in the game.
Benyamine has something of a laid back approach to poker and while he is a renowned cash poker player he has struggled in a number of tournaments in the past, dropping out in the first round many times. Unlike some players he does not take life too seriously, a streak which many believe has cost him a number of cash finishes, preferring to put his family and friends first. That is not to say that he is not focused at the table, just that he may be a little less focused off the table.
However, now that David Benyamine has bagged his first WSOP bracelet and $535,687 into the bargain, maybe life will be a little different in the future?
