Flack Wins World Series Of Poker Event 34

South Dakota native defeats online professional to become one of poker’s greatest players with six bracelets

Tuesday 24th June 2008

In America, Layne Flack won his sixth World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet last week in Las Vegas after beating 319 players in Event 34, the $1,500 pot limit Omaha with re-buys.

With the win, his first since 2003, the South Dakota native took home $577,725 and joined an elite club of six-time bracelet winners to become one of the top ten players in the history of the WSOP.

The final four at Event 34 on Friday consisted of Flack alongside German online professional player Daniel ‘AmichaiKK’ Makowsky, WSOP Europe bracelet winner Dario Alioto and Florida resident Jacobo Fernandez taking part in his third final table of the 2008 WSOP.

Flack had placed 22 re-buys for a total of $33,000 and needed to finish in twelfth spot of better in order to recoup his losses. He soon busted 23-year-old Italian Alioto, who took home $180,534 for his fourth place finish, before moving on to Fernandez, who left with $222,659 and third spot. Makowsky earned $355,030 for coming second after losing out to Flack's pair of Kings alongside a Jack and a two with his Ace, King and pair of fours.

Flack stated that he no longer has any of the five bracelets he previously won as he gave three away to his brothers and father while he lost one at a friend’s home and another was stolen in a burglary.
