EUBingo Gets New President

Spain’s Javier Franch Cardona replaces the UK’s Sir Peter Fry as head of European Federation for the next two years.

Friday 27th June 2008

The Federation of European Bingo Associations (EUBingo) has announced that Spain’s Javier Franch Cardona has been appointed to serve as its President for the next two years.

Franch Cardona is the President of the Spanish Association of Bingo Entrepreneurs and was selected at the Federation’s annual general meeting in Brussels late last week. He replaced Sir Peter Fry, Chairman of the Bingo Association of Great Britain, who assumed the role of Vice-President with Italo Marcotti, President of Italy’s Federbingo, elected to serve as Secretary.

The new President thanked his predecessor and revealed that he is looking forward to continuing the solid work done by the Federation on behalf of its members. “The term 2008 to 2010 look set to present the bingo sector with very specific challenges; not least in the form of continued smoking bans, providing for responsible gaming and competition from other forms of gaming and we at EUBingo look forward to these challenges” said Franch Cardona.

In addition, EUBingo used its general meeting to approve a common position on online gambling along with ratifying a code of conduct for responsible gaming. In addition, it confirmed its commitment to the establishment of a European Social Dialogue table for gambling along with the continuous monitoring of developments in gaming regulation and on recruitment of new member associations from other European Union states.
