888 Teams Up With Sportech

Hot on the tail of the deal with CryptoLogic, gaming giant 888 has now struck up a new deal with ailing sports betting company Sportech which will see the former darling of the gambling world try to bring back the good old days. Those who follow football betting and the ‘pools’ in particular will probably be aware that the old pastime which was popular in the UK has all but died. However, there are high hopes that the deal with 888 will see the old style game pushed to the fore.

It is amazing to think that back in the 1990s prior to the growing demand for online gambling, Sportech actually had over 10,000,000 customers through its Littlewoods, Vernons and Zetters pools operations. These were the days when the biggest jackpots in the industry were via the pools, when the lottery was unknown and when every man and his dog thought they could predict every home win, away win and draw in the football league – ah, the good old days!

Using the leverage offered by 888 there are high hopes that these old brands can be reborn and bring about the magic 10 million customer base which the group once boasted. If they get anywhere near this figure they will be doing very well indeed.
