Amateur Golfer Scores On The Poker Table
Tuesday 29th July 2008
While Shane Sigsbee may be one of the brightest hopes on the amateur golfing circuit he could well be reconsidering his choice of career after taking home a massive $206,273 in the Heartland Poker Tour event recently held at the Majestic Star Casino in Gary, Indiana. Sigsbee wrapped up the event in double quick time taking only 42 hands to obliterate the final table of 9 players.
However, don’t feel sorry for the final 9 with the last placed on the final table still taking hope $13,201 and second place taking $103,136. The $2,500 event attracted more than 1,200 entrants of which nearly 500 qualified for the final stages before being whittled down to a final table of 9. Interestingly Shane Sigsbee is also an options trader by day and believes that his head for figures and taking calculated risks helped him home in for the kill when the time was right.
Shane Sigsbee is one of a host of new up and coming poker stars who have taken on different career paths only to find that poker may well be their future. However, Sigsbee is back at the 36 hole US Amateur qualifier in Indiana hoping that his recent spate of good luck will continue in the world of golfing.
