Ontario Lottery Corporation To Review Past Wins
Tuesday 29th July 2008
The Ontario Lottery Corporation is to undergo a thorough review of all lottery wins going back a staggering 13 years in an attempt to flush out fraud and corruption rumours which have dogged the event for some time. New systems will allow the Ontario Lottery Corporation to review all wins and check for trends and patterns.
The announcement comes after a former lottery retailer was questioned by police with regards to 160 wining tickets and $1 million in prize money he had won over a 9 year stretch. The Ontario Lottery Corporation has promised that the results of the review will be made public and details of any suspicious activity will be turned over to the authorities to investigate further.
While the systems which protect both the Ontario Lottery Corporation and players have been improved of late there are suspicious that the level of protection afforded over the last 13 years was not as tight as it could have been. However, if the rumours about corruption are correct we may see a number of court cases over the coming 12 months as the authorities promise to get tough.
Those who thought they had got away with any scams may well find themselves in hot water very soon!
