Paco Boy wins Betfair Cup
Wednesday 30th July 2008
Richard Hannon's Paco Boy was victorious in the first big race at Glorious Goodwood yesterday.
The three-year-old, who lined up as one of the favourites, was ridden to glory by Richard Hughes in the Betfair Cup, a Group Two event formerly known as the Lennox Stakes.
Stimulation finished second ahead of Dunelight, while the heavily-backed Infallible failed to live up to his name in fourth.
The Sussex Stakes is today's major event at Goodwood, with Henrythenavigator expected to shine with his fourth Group One victory of the year.
Aidan O'Brien's horse, who has already won the 2,000 Guineas, Irish 2,000 Guineas and St James's Palace Stakes this season, is odds on at the bookmakers, with Ravens Pass expected to be his strongest challenger.
Meanwhile in Ireland, the Galway Plate also takes place this afternoon.
According to the betting odds, Oslot is the most likely to win, with Green Mile second and Breaking Silence third.
