As we move headlong into the Beijing Games it has been confirmed that the UK Olympic team are holed up in the enclave of Macau as they look to acclimatise themselves for the forth coming games. Is the casino capital of the world really the best place to take some of the UK’s finest athletes ahead of the biggest event of the last four years, does it really have the facilities?
The truth is that Macau offers some of the best training facilities in the whole of the Far East, something that often goes unnoticed as the casino industry continues to grab the headlines. A quick look at athletics in the country will show that both the East Asian Games and Asian Indoor Games have both been held in Macau in recent times confirming that it is not all about the gambling arena!
However, while the athletes may not be there for the gambling and the nightlife it seems inconceivable that they should not at least be able to sample the nightlife once in their time in the region?
Their nerves will be jangling as the Olympics moves ever closer but they have had the best of preparation for the games, now maybe it is time to see what the odds are for a few Great Britain winners at the games?
