News that Scottish tennis player Andy Murray has reached his first ever Master final has been well received by fans of Murray and British tennis alike. The young Scot has so far promised much but not yet delivered although hopes are high that he can bring home the trophy from Cincinnati. He took Ivo Karlovic out in straight sets in the semi-final, 6-4 6-4, but the game was far closer than many might assume.
Murray is now inline to take on either Rafal Nadal or Novak Djokovic in the final and his legion of fans will be willing him on to take the title and bring a much need tennis trophy back to the UK. While Murray has done well in many tournaments around the world he has just struggled with the final throw of the dice. However, there has been a marked improvement in his fitness levels of late, his concentration seems to be improving and he may actually be maturing with age.
With the likes of John McEnroe suggesting that Murray can take the coveted Wimbledon title one day there seems to be some hope for UK tennis, but he does need to start delivering – will Cincinnati be the turning point that takes him to the next level?
