Who Do You Fancy For The Football Champions League?

Thursday 7th August 2008

As we enter the third qualifying round for entry to the Champions League proper it is interesting to see some of the well known names of European football desperate to snatch a place in the league stage. We have Juventus taking on Artmedia, Arsenal taking on Steve McLarens new team Twente and Liverpool with a tricky tie against Standard. But who do you fancy for the cup this year? Can anyone break the recent domination by the English teams?

While the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal have been heavily involved with later stages of the Champions League of late there is a growing threat from the Spanish league, hot on the heels of their win in Euro 2008. Can they use the new wave of optimism in Spanish football to bag the big one or will they fail to deliver again?

It is very difficult to see past the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool especially with Chelsea and Liverpool boasting strengthened squads for the new season. But the Champions League has proven to be one of the more difficult competitions to forecast and this year may be no different.

So what about Manchester United or Chelsea, both at 6/1, or Real Madrid at 8/1? Or how about Liverpool to repeat their recent triumph at odds of 12/1? As they say, the choice is yours!
