GUKPT Hits Luton And Pro Leaves With £100,000

Monday 11th August 2008

The GUKPT poker event recently hit Luton on its trek around the UK however this leg was full of some of the biggest celebrity poker players in the UK. Michael Greco, Teddy Sherringham, Dave Colclough and Richard Ashby were among some of the well known poker faces sat around the tables. However it was Nottingham based professional poker player Sam Trickett who took the honours!

Trickett walked off with the £106,050 cheque and a place in the grand final – he is now the youngest ever winner of a GUKPT title at just 22 years of age. While the tour moves onto the heartland of the North West, Bolton, the next leg will do well to beat the 376 that were in attendance at Luton. The event has really moved up the gears since it began with the mix of professionals and celebrities adding a very interesting element to the cocktail.

While Sam Trickett took the title and the cash in this event we also saw David La Ronde take home £62,050 and James Mitchell a very respectable £45,100. There were also others who took home money with Andreas Mihail in 9th place taking home £8,450. Praz Bansi will be looking to keep hold of his title in the Bolton leg of the tour but he is sure to be up against some decent competition.
