As the turmoil within the halls of power at Manchester City starts to unfold it looks as though the club may be in serious financial trouble with new owner Thaksin Shinawatra having had £800 million of his asset frozen by courts in Thailand. He is now officially in the run in the UK after skipping Thailand and has no intention of returning, instead looking to claim political asylum. But what about the mighty blues?
A knee jerk reaction to the turmoil has seen the odds on Mark Hughes being the first manager to leave his club plummet to 4/1 with City a tight 14/1 to be relegated. While there may be a chance that Mark Hughes could walk away – although it is unlikely – is it now time to take advantage of the turmoil and lay City at 14/1 to go down?
When you consider the squad that they have there seems very little chance of them being relegated and even if there are problems short term, those brave enough to lay the bet at 14/1 (i.e. offer others the chance to bet at 14/1) could well be in the money in the second half of the season. With the likes of Stoke, Hull, West Brom, Fulham and Bolton, is this an easy way to bring some money in?
