Ladbrokes Joining Microgaming

London-based online gambling provider moving to one of the largest networks from next year to help stop drop in poker revenues.

Wednesday 13th August 2008

UK-based online gambling operator Ladbrokes has announced that it is set to join the Microgaming Poker Network to ensure more action for its players at LadbrokesPoker.com in tournaments and certain cash games. LadbrokesPoker.com already licenses poker software from Microgaming, one of the world's leading poker networks, with the London-based firm stating that customers would notice little change during the chaneover. 'Joining the Microgaming network will give our players more action on a wider variety of games, particularly at higher staking levels,” said John O'Reilly, Managing Director of Remote Betting and Gaming for Ladbrokes. “Microgaming is a leading network and will offer Ladbrokes Poker players faster access to the games they want. We will continue to operate outside of the network on tables where we already offer players the level of action they demand.' Ladbrokes stated that it plans to continue to provide its customers with high levels of customer service and a unique experience through world-leading poker events, promotions and tournaments. The company revealed earlier this week that its revenues from online poker had fallen 6.4 percent during the first half of 2008 and the move to Microgaming, with the potential for more games and a wider net of players, could help improve business. Ladbrokes stated that it expects improved liquidity together with further enhancements to its software and website to positively impact player numbers and yield. 'We remain focused on growing our business organically through increased investment in customer acquisition, retention and loyalty utilising our flexible and integrated systems across all our business channels,' said Christopher Bell, Chief Executive Officer for Ladbrokes. 'In eGaming, our increased advertising and promotional investment and enhanced product range is delivering new customers and in UK retail the launch of our OddsOn! loyalty card has been well received and is delivering increased understanding of our customers.'
