Johnny ChanPoker.Com Calls It A Day

News that 10 time WSOP bracelet winner Johnny Chan has taken his own poker site offline has surprised many in the sector as the site was launched in a blaze of glory back at 2006 WSOP. The move is not a sudden knee jerk reaction but part of the overall plan to wind down the business after it was overtaken by new and more exciting offerings in the market place.

However, in a move which many other operators could learn from it was also announced that the company is in talks with a number of potential joint venture partners who will taken on the customer accounts of ChanPoker.Com members and honour what are substantial bonus point totals for many regular players.

While it is sad to see such a promising venture fold it does highlight the risks of going it alone online using one persons name and reputation to create a whole business network. Even though Chan is still a major force in the industry and attends a number of tournaments around the world, trends have changed and the new kids on the block are now grabbing the headlines.

However, those who discount Johnny Chan as a spent force on the green tables may live to regret it!
