Duke of Marmalade favourite for New Approach clash
Friday 22nd August 2008
Punters may have missed out on the chance of seeing Duke of Marmalade take on New Approach when the Juddmonte International Stakes at York was cancelled last week, but another opportunity to watch the two Group One stars go at it could be on the cards for September.
William Hill has opened the market on the Irish Champion Stakes race and makes Aidan O'Brien's King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes winner the favourite for victory at evens.
Epsom Derby king New Approach is the second best-backed horse at 11/4, ahead of 6/1 Casual Conquest, 11/1 Mount Nelson and 12/1 Phoenix Tower.
Punters can also get 20/1 on Pressing, 25/1 on Multidimensional and 40/1 on Lord Admiral.
Should all these mounts take part in the race on September 6th, the Irish Champion Stakes will arguably have the finest field of any event held so far in 2008.
Duke of Marmalade has a marginally better Time Form rating than New Approach.
