Is Bodog Scaling Down US Operations?
Saturday 23rd August 2008
While Bodog is better known for its online exposure, great bonuses offers and excellent satellite tournaments it seems as though the group’s US operations are being scaled down if rumours on the internet are true.
Many will not be aware that the group has a US subsidiary which is a joint venture with Morris Mohawk Gaming Group of Quebec. After Bodog lost a US court case which cost $48 million and saw it give up ownership of some domains in a dispute about patents, the group then looked at different options in the US.
However, over recent months there have been a number changes to the location of the main head office and the number of staff in employment – with some choosing not to relocate. If the unsubstantiated stories turn out to be true it looks as though the much rumoured push into European and Asian markets could be increased over the coming weeks and months.
Bodog has one of the best names in the online community and while it is unsure what form of attack they will implement on the European and Asian markets, they are sure to hit the ground running. Bodog has a reputation for aggressive marketing and excellent competitions, something which has seen the group become the online darling of the casino industry.
