Who Will Win The UEFA Champions League?
Monday 25th August 2008
As we move away from the qualifying rounds of the UEFA Champions League all eyes are starting to turn to who might win this year and if there are any good outside bets to take the crown.
A look at the betting market shows that Chelsea are topping Manchester United at the moment, pushing the Old Trafford crowd into second spot. Chelsea are currently around the 5.5/1 level with United just over 6/1, but this is no straight forward battle!
While there is a small gap in the odds between the two English giants and the rest of the field only a fool would write off the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Liverpool to name but a few. Arsenal may struggle this year with few new signings and more players leaving the clubs swing door than arriving!
It is surely a sign of the times that there are four English clubs in the top seven of the betting for the Champions League, but can the Premiership fly the flag again and bring home the top prize in club football?
As the teams will soon find out there are no easy games in the Champions League and anyone who thinks it will all be a stroll in the park needs to get a grip!
