Bodog Poker Room witnesses sharp decline
Wednesday 27th August 2008
The leading online poker website www.bodogpoker.com looks set for a rocky future as its position as one of the most popular online gaming websites was put in danger by the rise of new website Cake Poker, which has surpassed Bodog Poker in recent weeks. Cake Poker, a recently established website which takes only US players, this week attracted at least 400 more players than Bodog Poker – and this figure adds further alarm when it is considered that Bodog have been relegated from the top 10 most popular online gambling sites, currently ranking 14th – and beaten by websites such as Ultimate Bet, Pacific Poker, Absolute Poker and Microgaming.
In response to this news, the Bodog team have had to lay off a large proportion of their staff – and have hinted they may be leaving the online market for good. The company is thought to be banking on a successful football season to keep revenue flowing – if loyal customers continue to place their bets on the season with Bodog, the company might be able to survive the economic slump which seems to be hitting it so hard.
