McCain gambling story backfires as Obama uses the bait

Tuesday 30th September 2008

While news of presidential hopeful John McCain’s love of the dice and casino games was released by his party it seems to have backfired over the last few days with Barack Obama using the comments as ammunition in the battle to humiliate each other. In a tongue in cheek exchange he claimed that while he also liked a roll of the dice it was not time to ‘gamble on four more years of the same’ in reference to president Bush.

However, gambling and poker seem to be a major part of US culture and to see Obama mock the game in this way will not go down well in all areas of the US. There is also the perception that Obama looks as though he is anti-gambling and that he would not be an asset to the industry in the Whitehouse.

John McCain seems as though he has the vote of the gambling community in the bag after over 20 years working with lobbyists for the industry. The move for US presidency was a bold move by McCain in the older years of his life but he has shown that nothing scares him and we are sure to see a battle to the very end.
