Poker Favourite Negreanu On Form At WSOP Europe

Canadian professional poker player leads the pack after the second day of play in London.

Tuesday 30th September 2008

Canadian professional poker player Daniel Negreanu leads the pack after the second day of play at the World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) taking place at London’s Empire Casino in Leicester Square. The WSOPE presented by Betfair.com has already awarded three gold bracelets but the $18,084 buy-in Main Event will not decide a winner until Thursday. However, Negreanu has already bested 327 other players to make it into the final 36. Each player started with 20,000 in chips and Negreanu has already built that up to more than 150,000. Negreanu has already had a great WSOPE after cashing in the first two events, the $2,712 buy-in no-limit hold’em tournament and the $4,521 HORSE tournament. He then busted out of the $9,045 pot-limit Omaha tournament but revealed that he was relieved to be able to catch up on some much needed sleep after going so deep in back-to-back tournaments. The first-place finisher in Main Event will walk away with more than $1.53 million, the biggest payout in the WSOPE’s short history, after rewarding Denmark’s Theo Jorgensen with $394,408 for victory in the pot-limit Omaha tournament last week.
