Payne Appointed At GameAccount

Former Sportingbet Chief Executive to serve as Non-Executive Chairman for skill-based gaming provider.

Wednesday 1st October 2008

London-based skill games developer and network provider GameAccount has announced that Nigel Payne, the former Group Chief Executive for Sportingbet, has been appointed as its Non-Executive Chairman. GameAccount was founded six years ago and is a head-to-head skill-based gaming provider for regulated sportsbook, casino and poker operators seeking a single-wallet solution. It has a strong list of shareholders including Andrew Black, founder of Betfair, alongside Dermot Desmond and the Smurfit family, and powers leading online partners including William Hill, Sportingbet Europe, Stan James, Victor Chandler International, BlueSquare, Boylesports, Paddy Power and Gala Coral. “We’re extremely excited to have Nigel on board”, said Kevin Dale, Chief Executive Officer for GameAccount. “His experience and knowledge of the industry is second to none and we’re looking forward to working closely with him over the coming months.” Payne joined Sportingbet in 2000 as its Group Finance Director and was appointed as its Group Chief Executive the following year where he guided the firm through numerous acquisitions along with a listing on the London Stock Exchange. “I’m thrilled to now be working with one of the largest gaming communities in the world,” said Payne. “Multiplayer blackjack, dominoes and backgammon are becoming more and more popular by the day. These are exciting times.”
