Two Big Names Lead EPT London

Max Prescatori and Sorel ‘Imper1um’ Mizzi are the chip leaders after Day 1A.

Friday 3rd October 2008

The £5,400 buy-in European Poker Tour kicked off at The Victoria Casino in London, where 300 players were whittled down to 77 at the same time that the last nine of the WSOPE Main Event battled it out in Leicester Square. PokerStars, the sponsors of the event, have added enough money to guarantee a £1,000,000 first place prize and expect 300 more to show up today for Day 1B. Mizzi had this to say about his ride through Day 1A of the EPT London: “I came to my seat an hour late, which is something I’ve been experimenting with since I always find myself spewing chips at the beginning of tournaments. I was happy to see that there were four or five satellite qualifiers to my left and only one recognizable player, Chad Brown. After a few hours, I had a good idea of how everyone was playing and was very happy with my table.” On his strategy heading into Day 2, Mizzi stated, “I don’t really have a premeditated strategy. My game plan will depend on who is at my table and the stack sizes surrounding me.” Max Prescatori holds the chip lead after Day 1A with 99,300. He recently won the $2,500 PLO/PLHE Event at the 2008 WSOP for nearly a quarter of a million dollars.
