While they call it the graveyard for the Premiership teams, the place where skill can often go out of the window in place of pace and aggression it seems that this year could be a little different. The league is now full of teams that have tasted life at the top and want another slice of the action. So who do you choose from?
It looks very much as though the top spot in the league could go to any three of the ex-Premiership teams in the shape of Wolves (4/1), Birmingham (2.6/1) and Reading (3/1). However, we also have moneybags QPR up there at 11/1, Preston pushing hard at 9/1 and what could be the surprise package of the season, Sheffield United at 16/1.
If you ask any ex-Premiership player or manager about the Championship they will all tell you that it is the hardest league to pull away from as the brawn and skill factor become very mixed, where as in many ways the Premiership allows teams to play the ‘beautiful’ game. Some of the big clubs need to get out of the divison as soon as possible if they want to keep their best players and ensure that they do not hit the financial buffers!
