While the next instalment of the Kentucky state v Online Poker case is due to be played out on Tuesday there are signs of a major backlash against Governor Steve Beshear. Not only is his case starting to crumble, with the Judge looking to consider dismissal notices on Tuesday, but it also appears that he does not have the backing of the people of Kentucky.
The voters in Kentucky have made it known that they do not support the case which is attempting to hijack nearly 150 gambling based domain names. Indeed there is also evidence appearing which shows that Mr Beshear has run for office as a pro-gambling candidate in the past, which surely goes against the whole principal of this current court case?
It will be interest to first see if the judge throws out the case on Tuesday and if not, will the Governor still pursue a case which does not have the backing of the voters. If he pushes ahead with the massive costs incurred with the case as well as the bad publicity for the State, will he be risking votes next time he is up for election?
