The health of e-gambling, which includes online blackjack, roulette and other casino games, is "very encouraging".
At least that is the view of Robin Le Prevost, head of the E-Commerce Development department for the State of Alderney, who has suggested that the industry should monitor the situation all the same.
His comments come as the UK tries to come to terms with recession and widespread financial turmoil.
Commenting on the current climate, Mr Le Prevost remarked: "Obviously the length and depth of this current financial environment could play a part and we will keep watching."
Gambling firms were said to be "cash rich", which is one reason why the credit crunch that the global economy finds itself in is unlikely to affect their strategies.
Indeed, the e-commerce expert claimed that internet gambling groups currently look recession proof.
The State of Alderney's E-Commerce Development department oversees e-commerce activity on the Channel Island.
