Wireless Internet in French casinos

Boingo and Visacom to bring wireless Internet for gamblers

Tuesday 17th February 2004

Boingo, one of leading WiFi (wireless Internet) network aggregator worldwide with nearly 6,000 locations has announced it has signed a roaming agreement with Visacom to add its WiFi hot spots in key casinos and other travel locations across France.

Visacom's fast-growing hot spot network includes more than 30 French locations from Paris to the island of Corsica at key locations such as Hotel Intercontinental, Le Meridien, and Hotel Best Western and Partouche Group casinos.

The Boingo Roaming System in Europe already serves more than 3,000 hot spot locations under contract in France, Italy, the Netherlands, Germany, and the UK.

‘We are committed to grow in Europe and Visacom helps us to offer service in key high-end establishments that attract business travellers,’ said Dave Hagan, Boingo president and COO.

The two companies said that any user with WiFi (802.11b)-enabled notebook or handheld device could use the wireless Internet services with a Boingo client.

‘Visacom's roaming agreement with Boingo is a key milestone in the company's strategy to associate only with market leaders who share the same standards and which bring us greater market reach and visibility,’ said Thierry Beau, Visacom president & managing director.
