Daniel Craker gets plastered on SkyCity jackpot

Sunday 12th October 2008

While the name Daniel Craker will no doubt not even register in the worldwide poker player community it is a name which you could see a lot more of after he took home the $257,040 SkyCity festival of poker crown after a four day event. A plasterer by trade from Lower Hutt, Daniel Craker is reaching for the skies this morning as he wakes up with a massive cheque in his back pocket.

It is all the more remarkable when you consider that the SkyCity festival of poker tournament attracted players from all around the world with over 300 people putting their names down for the main event. Down to just 9 players at the final table, Daniel Craker took the crown leaving Matthew Konnecke, Wang Che Jung and a whole host of others in is wake.

The highest finishing foreign player was Singapore’s Nathanael Seet who took home $34,272 with the UK’s Wai Kwan Yuen finishing last on the final table and taking $14,565 back to the UK. The event has been a roaring success for the Australasian poker market, attracting a range of well know players from all areas of the globe. Recession? What recession?
