A Wellington-based plasterer held off the challenge of some of the world's top pros to win the biggest poker tournament ever staged in New Zealand on Sunday.
Daniel Craker emerged victorious from a field of 306, which included Greg Raymer, Grant Levy and Joe Hachem, to claim the NZD$257,040 (£89,800) top prize at the Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) Auckland event.
The amateur endured a nine-hour final table at Skycity Casino before finally beating Australian online poker player Matthew Konnecke in the heads-up.
A strong local challenge saw three more Kiwis - Wang Che Jung, Dan Sing and Luke Stanford - finish in the top five of the PokerStars.net-sponsored event.
Auckland was the third stop on season two of the APPT, following tournaments in Macau and Seoul.
The tour moves on to Manila's Hyatt Hotel and Casino in mid-November, before its climax at the Star Casino Sydney during the first week of December.
