To many he is the epitome of the golden golfing generation, a gentleman off the course but one of the toughest opponents on the greens. It can only be Seve Ballesteros who has unfortunately been diagnosed with a brain tumour after falling ill towards the end of last week with dizzy spells and sickness. While initially there had be no real concerns about his health a check up revealed that he has a brain tumour which needs urgent attention.
He has undergone the surgery required over the last couple of days and while much of the tumour has been taken out and he is conscious and stable it is still very early days for the long term prognosis. Tumours on the brain can be very difficult to operate upon without affect other bodily functions and brain activity.
It is a great sign that Seve is awake and conscious but there is no doubt that after battling for many years on the best greens around the world, this is the battle he needs to win, this is his greatest challenge. The world of gold is routing for the Spanish master in the hope that he can make a full recovery from his latest set back.
