Do Arsenal look a good bet for the Champions League?
Tuesday 21st October 2008
As Manchester United seem set to take the plaudits with a 3 – 0 win over Scottish rivals Celtic there is a growing chorus of praise for Arsenal who tonight went away to Fenerbahce in the Champions league and over turned their rivals 15 match unbeaten Champions League home record in style walking away 5 – 2 winners. So is Arsenal worth a look to win the competition?
While it is still very hard to see past the likes of Chelsea at 4.1/1 and Manchester United at 6/1, Arsenal are looking a decent bet with odds of 11.5/1. The only real problem that Arsenal have is consistency in the Premier League at the moment but if they can crack that, stay in form and keep their big players fit then who knows where they can go.
Arsene Wenger is a man who has been there and done it all over Europe but he has yet to grab the Champions League trophy. His team has taken a little while to gel since the start of the season with a number of players leaving and some youngsters joining the fold. However, they now seem to have found their feet and their shooting boots – is this the year of the Gunners?
